A slightly creepy topic

Six loads of laundry washed, hung outside to dry, folded and put away today. Some of the stuff was dry before I was done hanging the load. Gotta love the sun!

So now I have a question... if you have a clothes line, do you hang your undergarments? The boys were quite concerned that I would be hanging boxers or worse ... my underwear (Gasp!) ... out on the line in our private back yard that no one can see into- unless they are really trying. I told them that I would put them on one of the middle lines, but they were still horrified.

My solution was that I would put a basket in the basement just for socks and undies. When they bring their clothes down to be washed, they need to sort out the stuff they don't want hung. If it isn't sorted, it gets hung. That way, I am not running the dryer for 3 pairs of underwear and 6 socks, and they can still hold their heads up high in the neighborhood.

I am going to be putting a line in the basement, so eventually they will be line dried in private. They will just have to be sure to check the line before friends go down to the man cave.

So if you do hang your unmentionables, do you go to great lengths to hide them? If not, what solution have you come up with?

Hiya - newbie to your blog :) I know this post is old but I thought you'd maybe like to hear from someone on the other side of the world!

Here in New Zealand pretty much everyone dries their washing on the line outside. Dryers are in some houses and used in winter or for those times when you desperately need your favourite jeans asap... but air dried clothes are great, aren't they? :)

Undergarments go straight on the line. If I'm feeling particularly bashful I make sure they're out of sight, but I really don't care. Perhaps it's different for us here since it's just the norm. But go for it.. stick 'em up there. Hide them if you must - but air dried clothes feel so much fresher, and I'm sure you'd love that for your underwear :)
